About This Project

An independent research initiative dedicated to transparency in Tampa Bay's home-services industry.

Our Mission

The Tampa Bay Home-Services Ownership Tracker exists to provide residents, policymakers, and industry professionals with clear, accurate information about who owns the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies serving our community.

Over the past decade, private equity firms have quietly acquired many of Tampa Bay's most trusted home-services brands. While these companies often retain their familiar local names, their ownership, business models, and priorities may have fundamentally changed. We believe consumers deserve to know who they're really doing business with.

This project is committed to impartial reporting. We do not take positions on whether PE ownership is inherently good or bad — we simply aim to make ownership information transparent and accessible so that individuals can make informed decisions.

Methodology

Our data is collected from publicly available sources including:

  • Press releases from acquiring companies and PE firms
  • SEC filings and financial disclosures (for publicly-traded entities)
  • Business journal articles (Tampa Bay Business Journal, Business Observer)
  • Industry publications (ACHR News, HVAC Insider, HomePros News)
  • Company websites and official announcements
  • Florida Department of State — Division of Corporations (Sunbiz.org)
  • M&A databases and deal tracking platforms

Each company profile includes citations linking back to the original sources. We strive for accuracy but acknowledge that the home-services market changes rapidly. We welcome corrections and updates from readers.

Note: Market share estimates are based on available data including company service areas, brand recognition, and reported revenue where available. Actual market shares may differ from our estimates.

Scope & Limitations

This tracker currently covers the four-county Tampa Bay metro area: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, and Polk counties. We focus on residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service companies — the three core trades most affected by PE consolidation.

Our database does not claim to be exhaustive. There are hundreds of small contractors operating in the Tampa Bay area that are not included in our tracking. We focus on companies with significant market presence and those involved in notable ownership transactions.

We also acknowledge that ownership structures can be complex and may change between our updates. Private transactions may not be publicly disclosed, and some ownership details may be incomplete. We encourage readers to verify critical information through the cited sources and to report any errors or omissions.

Help Us Improve

If you have information about a company's ownership, corrections to our data, or suggestions for companies to add, we'd love to hear from you.
