Alpine launches Tampa-based Apex Service Partners with Frank Gay Services

What happened. Alpine Investors launched Apex Service Partners, a Tampa-headquartered HVAC, plumbing and electrical platform, by partnering with Orlando's Frank Gay Services and combining it with Best Home Services of Naples. Alpine committed at least $100 million of equity over five years and explicitly modelled the platform on the Wrench Group, which it grew past $150 million of revenue before selling to Investcorp in 2016. AJ Brown, formerly CFO of Avitru, became CEO and Will Matson head of M&A and CFO; Alpine VP Daniel Cohen said 'Best and Frank Gay have exceptional reputations in the industry. Bringing them together makes Apex an attractive home for other founders.' Founder Frank Gay said 'Alpine's strong focus on people and relationships makes it stand out among financial firms.' Both companies kept their own brands. Terms were not disclosed; Orchard MB advised Frank Gay Services.

Researcher notes: Neither founding company is inside the seven-county region — Frank Gay is Orlando, Best Home Services is Naples — but the platform itself is headquartered in Tampa and became a major acquirer in the region after 2019. Included as a platform_formation for that reason; the buyer record carries the Tampa Bay significance.
